License and updates

Bought from Polar, Sticktop asks for a license key, and one key works on up to 3 Macs. The app updates itself, and new versions are included with your purchase. Bought on the Mac App Store, it needs no key and the App Store keeps it up to date. A purchase in one place does not unlock the other.

Privacy

Sticktop has no accounts and no tracking. Backgrounds are removed on your Mac, so the images you turn into stickers never leave it. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Purchase and download

Payment is handled by Polar, which acts as the reseller and takes care of sales tax. After paying, Polar emails you a download link and your license key. Open Sticktop, paste the key when it asks, and you are set; one key works on up to three Macs. You can download the app again and see your key at any time in Polar's customer portal. On the Mac App Store, Apple handles payment and the download.

Either. The price is the same. The Polar version comes with a license key for up to 3 Macs and updates itself; the App Store version needs no key and updates through the App Store. A purchase in one place does not unlock the other.

Can I use Sticktop on more than one Mac?

Yes. A Polar license key works on up to 3 Macs. The App Store version installs on any Mac signed in with the Apple Account that bought it.

How do I enter my license key?

Only the Polar version has one. Click the Sticktop icon in the menu bar and choose Enter License, or go to Settings, General, License. Paste the key from your Polar receipt email. The App Store version needs no key.

How do updates work?

The Polar version updates itself, and the App Store version updates through the App Store. New versions are included with your purchase either way.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Backgrounds are removed on your Mac, so your images never leave it. Sticktop has no accounts and no tracking.
